RESEARCH                         TRAINING

Why We're Great >

Since 2013, we have successfully trained >100 university students on basic field research, out of which 26 have joined institutions of national and international repute for their higher studies (Oxford University UK, Imperial College London, University of Dublin, Northern Ireland University Galway, Wildlife Institute of India and Forest Research Institute Dehradun, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore, The Energy and Resources Institute and Delhi University, etc).

Additionally, we have identified few young postgraduate students, who have shown interest in raptors as model organisms for research. Given that the research capacity of the Black Kite Project was built slowly under the guidance of our expert Principal Investigators, we believe that young enthusiasts will benefit from apprenticeship in a well-established project. Now that the project has multiple concurrent components (spatial ecology, behavioural ecology, population ecology and lab based research: genetics and eco-physiology), we aim to hone the research skills of meritorious students in raptor research and conservation.

Under this envisioned mentoring programme, we have created two posts for “Post Graduate Research Assistants”, and two for "Research Interns (B.Sc. level)". The Postgraduate Research Assistants, will be students who show promise in pursuing future research in raptors. Such training, apart from helping them, will broaden their expertise to handle new projects on raptor ecology, independently, under credible mentorship.
